In honor of Googles 10th birthday, they are offering searches from January 2001. It’s interesting to see what you’ll find. A search on my name brings up nothing, but a search on wonderdog, inc brings up an old version of my site.

My first site was a free site on Earthlink’s servers in 1996, and was followed by another free site on Road Runner’s servers. In 2000 I registered my first domain, wonderdoginc.com and thus started a new hobby and eventual career.

It’s fun to look through the old archive and see what I was working on at the time. Some pretty ok sketches, some fairly horrible ones. Nothing really finished, which I guess hasn’t changed too much. Nice to see the photography I had done, it’s a hobby I miss, but can’t really afford to keep up with.

I went through the old links and found one of my inspirations from the time, Rob Jacobs. He was an art student with a free site, much like I was, but his skill was much further along than mine. I looked him up and found his blog, but it hasn’t been updated in over a year, and his site, which has been sitting for even longer. I remember at the time he was working on designs for his own take on Rapunzel, long before Glen Keane took on the job at Disney. He’s got some of the old designs up on his blog, and I have to say, they are still impressive. I think I’d rather see them on screen than the 3D version we’ll get in 2010.

Looking at the old site is fun, but I’ve been working on the new site, which is even more exciting. How bout a sneak peek?

Coming later this month.
