San Diego Recap

Sunday, August 03, 2008

I have been putting off this recap, not because I have anything bad to say, but because I’ve been so busy catching up on everything at home and work, I haven’t spent much time on anything else. I did set up a Deviant Art Page, which has been going good. I’ll be putting pretty much the same artwork there as I do here, but with a few exceptions. I try to keep this site all-ages friendly, since I write all-ages books. On Deviant Art, however, I’ll be posting a few not so all-ages pieces, just to expand my horizon. I’ll be sure to mark those pieces as such.

The trip itself was awesome. I had a blast hanging out with Josh, Pat and Wes.

We sold out of the forty copies of Wonderdog we took up there, so that was awesome! Thanks to everyone who picked up a copy. I hope you liked it! Be sure to tell all your friends when it hits shelves in November.

I also sold a few sketchbooks and a couple of sketch cards. I sold the Isaac card I did, which is the first sketch card I think I did. That was cool.

I got to meet Matt Keesler and Natalie Morales from the show the Middleman. That was fun. Javi got ABC Family let us Viper folk into their booth to meet her and get a picture with her. It was too cool.

Big plans for next year are being, well, planned. But more on that later.

I’ll have some pics up on Flickr tonight or tomorrow, I’ll let you know when. I let my pro account expire, so I don’t have as much space for pics as I used to. Feel free to gift one to me if you like. smile

2008 Sketchbook
This year I’m going to be offering a sketchbook for the first time. I spent a lot of time looking for sketches that showed a range of what I do, and I think I found a good sampling. There’s some of the sketch card stuff you’ve seen, and a lot of drawings I’ve never put on the site. I’m looking forward to getting some feedback on it, as I’ve never put my stuff into book form before.
I’ll be selling them next week at the Comic Con in San Diego. I’ll be at the Viper booth, 1903 with both the sketchbook and the limited convention edition of Wonderdog, Inc, not due in stores until November!
I have 50 sketchbooks and 40 copies of Wondy, so make sure to get yours early! I’ll also be signing copies of Haywire and Sasquatch, as well as whatever else you might find. In addition, I’ll be taking commissions for the first time this year. I’m bringing some blank sketch cards and will be offering commissions for $10. Hope to see you guys there!

Happy 7th and WONDERDOG INC!!

Monday, July 07, 2008

OK, so I’m a little late. Sometimes I’m really on the ball with this blog thing, other times, I totally forget it exists.

For those of you who follow me around the country and attend my every appearance, I’ll be heading to San Diego again this year to the geek prom.

This year I’ll have a limited edition of Wonderdog, Inc! We’ll have 40 numbered copies to sign and sell at the Viper Booth. I’m sure it will have some sort of numbered designation, but as of this moment, I don’t know what it is. It’s probably good though. So come out and see me! Or, more likely, come out to see Josh and meet me too.

In addition to the books, I’ll also be taking commissions, a con first for me. I’m going to be doing custom sketch cards for $10 bucks a pop. If you have a character you want done, bring some reference! I only have so much space in my head.

See you there!

Wondy

Friday, May 30, 2008

Well it’s done. I’ve sent off the final files to Viper and soon to the printer. We hope to have the first copies in San Diego, but we’re not 100% yet. I’ll keep you informed. Meanwhile, if you live in the US you can still at Wowio.

Sketch Dump

something
I went to a small convention in Austin yesterday called Staple. I wasn’t sure what to expect, so I didn’t really publicize me being there. Turns out, it was a pretty fun little con. Due to an unfortunate error, I didn’t have any books to sell. But I had printed up a few previews of Wonderdog, Inc to pass out. They seemed to go over well, of course, they were free… I noticed at the last minute that the pages printed out of order, so I had to number them, which was kinda fun explaining to the folks. Most of them got a bit of a laugh out of it, so hopefully they didn’t end up in the trash on the way out.

I hung out with Joe Eisma, and wife, and David Hopkins for most of the show. Some cool fellows and we had a good time.
I did a few sketches while I was there, so, without further ado, some sketches:

Joe Eisma is the penciler on the second volume to A Dummy’s Guide to Danger from Viper, due out this month.

In the Sasquatch Anthology Pat Bussey did a crazy story about a Yeti with a crane for an arm, who digs for oil. He’s been wanting me to do a sketch for him, so I finally broke down and whipped these out.

He’s also been asking for a John Locke from Lost.

And, to prove I don’t just do whatever Pat says, here’s a little pirate monkey, kinda like the ones on his site…

Wizard World Texas

Wednesday, November 14, 2007

Looks like I won’t be able to make it this year. Which really sucks, I’ve been at the last three or four and I hate to miss out on hanging with all my friends, but finances are tight right now and I really can’t justify the gas up there and back. Oh well, maybe next year.

There will still be plenty of copies of Haywire at Viper’s booth, so be sure to stop by and pick one up. If you’re lucky Pat Bussey will be there and he’ll sign it for you. Not that he actually did anything for the book, it’d still be a fun time for all.

Updates shmupdates

Tuesday, November 06, 2007

Works been kicking my buttocks lately, so no new drawings. Work on Wonderdog is going great, the first chapter is complete and we seem to be on target for getting it out for next years Comic Con.

Speaking of cons, I’ll be at Wizard World Texas next weekend signing at the Viper booth. Come out and say hi if you feel so inclined, we should have copies of Haywire and Sasquatch at our disposal.

In sadder news, I’ve been removed from IMDB. I used to have a credit for being a Rough Rider (uncredited) in the TV movie Rough Riders. Apparently the new rule is you have to have at least one credited appearance before they’ll uncredit you. I’ve been on there since 2003, shouldn’t I be grandfathered in or something?
